There’s nothing quite like the euphoria of having a solid, productive week at work.
There’s a goal, so you manage your time and effort effectively. Not only of yourself, but of your coworkers as well. You meet your goal. You excel, in your opinion, at this goal. You learned some new skills in the process too. Overall, you feel very accomplished and effective.
Then you find something, seemingly by magic, to reverse these feelings and return yourself to that place of inadequacy. You ignore the circumstances involved. You compare. You contrast. You ignore mitigating details because it’s all about reminding yourself that you, unequivocally, suck.
You jump out of a window.
